About Us
Oaktree Home and Garden Centre is the online partner to Oaktree Nursery.
Site owner, Neil Lees, spent several years working at growing nurseries and attending horticultural college before deciding to go it alone and set up a small wholesale growing nursery.
A wealth of knowledge has also been acquired from family and relatives, all of whom were, and still are, dedicated to their gardens.
Gardening has been a hobby, a job and most of all a passion.
There are very few hard and fast rules in the world of gardening, most knowledge is gained by talking to fellow enthusiasts or by trial and error. This site is designed for all who have an interest in gardening, wildlife, nature and the environment, whether it be a mere passing interest or a genuine desire to pass on knowledge and gain further knowledge or simply to purchase an item for the home or garden. Everyone is welcome!
Oaktree Nursery was born in 1991 at a two acre site in Hockley Heath, Solihull, West Midlands.
Summer bedding plants were the first item to be produced and sold to local retailers.
Before long various charities were contacting the nursery with a view to holding summer plant sales to raise much needed funds for their respective charity. The idea being that Oaktree Nursery supplied the plants.
This became a successful niche market for the nursery and soon the order books were filling up.
Many local schools joined in the success of holding plant sales to raise funds for their PTAs and the hope now is that schools all over the country will take advantage of raising money with Oaktree Home and Garden online, not through plants but with the many items that the site will stock that will help pupils and parents alike to appreciate the benefits and wonder of gardening, nature and the environment.
Although mostly wholesale, the nursery has been retailing plants to the public at Boxtrees Art and Craft Centre in Hockley Heath.
Oaktree Nursery and its online partner are a family run business where you are assured friendly service and advice at all times.
We believe in traditional values and bemoan the passing of the small local retailer where that service was always assured.
Yes you can get everything you want from the out of town retail parks, but you will not be made to feel part of the family nor get the personal service that is on offer from Oaktree Home and Garden Centre.
We look forward to meeting you all.
