The Blue Tit has flown
I put the Birch Log Nest Box
up in March and was delighted to find it occupied fairly soon afterwards by a Blue Tit.
Last week a small face appeared at the entrance hole.

I didn’t have to wait long before the parent bird returned to the box with food for the chics
Survival of the fittest is the name of the game, sadly only one chic made it to the outside world.
The sole survivor perched on the rockery for several hours whilst the parent continued frantically feeding it in the hope that it would fly to the safety of the trees.
Happily the chic eventually fluttered into the branches of the spreading lilac, rested awhile before embarking on its new life.
