Helping to create the Garden of your dreams, the way nature intended

Spring into the Garden

This week saw the official start of Spring, the vernal equinox took place on March 21st followed by British Summertime on March 25th giving longer daylight hours.
For seasonal gardeners this is now the time to get in the garden and start work.

Lawns can be cut if not already done so, set the blades to a high setting for the first couple of cuts, don’t be tempted to cut the lawn too short.

Sow seeds of certain summer bedding plants, vegetables, herbs and perennials. We have a large selection of seed to choose from, available to buy online or from our Solihull store. Plus all the extras needed like seed trays and pots.

If you would rather buy your plants as rooted cuttings, we have a large selection of plug plants covering all the main varieties, fuchsia, geranium, surfinia, tuberous begonia and general basket plants.
Whichever way you decide to grow your early plants do not be tempted to plant any outside yet. Mid to late May is usually the safest time to put delicate summer bedding plants in the garden. Daytime temperatures might seem pleasantly warm but night temperature can still drop below freezing.
