Oaktree Home and Garden Centre

About Us

Oaktree Home and Garden Centre is the online partner of Oaktree Nursery.

We are a family business, the main participants being brothers Neil and Jeremy.

Jeremy's eldest daughter Sophie, will be assisting with images and videos, using the knowledge and experience gained whilst studying for a degree in Media, Film, Television and Radio. She will be invaluable when we start our regular video blogs on a wide variety of subjects close to our hearts. Some instructional others informative, all informal with friendly and sometimes humerous content!

We all share a passion for Nature, Wildlife, Pets and Gardening. The online site will be dedicated to these topics. As we are actively involved in the aforementioned subjects we have and will continue to discover products associated with the same. These are the items that we will be offering for sale via Oaktree Home and Garden Centre confident that you will appreciate the quality, practicality and usefulness of the various products. We will not choose price over quality. There are numerous cheap versions we could opt for, however, we strongly believe in the old saying 'you get what you pay for'

Our suppliers are specialists in their respective fields and not only supply quality products but also provide additional information which we are able to pass on to the customer.

All products offered for sale are closely monitored and based on our personal experience along with customer comments we decide whether to discontinue an item in favour of a preferred alternative. We look forward to an interactive relationship with our visitors to help us provide the best service and experience possible.

The original Oaktree Nursery began life in 1991 as a wholesale nursery supplying local retailers and organisations who wished to raise funds for their respective concerns through the sale of plants.

Situated in rural Warwickshire it is a relatively small and quiet site surrounded by nature at its best. Although not open to the public we are happy to have visitors on the strict understanding that arrangements are made by phone in advance of any visit.

In 2008 when the financial crisis hit the world, the Nursery took a big knock back resulting in the end of wholesale supplies. It was at this point that we transferred our attentions to online sales.

After a couple of years of standing idle the Nursery site had been taken over by nature. Neil successfully used the internet to supply young plug plants in small amounts which prompted Jeremy to suggest that the Nursery should be brought back to life to increase the amount of young plants we could produce and offer for sale online.

Spring 2011 saw the start of the regeneration, working mostly at weekends we turned the wilderness back into a manageable state. It is still ongoing but we are looking at completion during 2012. A video diary was started from day 1and continues to have content added. Once complete an edited version will be uploaded to the main site which will hopefully give inspiration to anyone who has a piece of land that nature has reclaimed.

This year, 2012, will see a large variety of young plants for sale from the online site. Initially we are concentrating on perennial plants and shrubs. Some old favourites and some less common varieties. Attention to quality will be paramount. As a grower with over twenty years experience, Neil is commited to providing only the best quality plants. Delivered in specialist packaging, the plug plants will simply need potting on when received by the customer. After a few weeks the plants will be ready for planting out. Full instructions will be posted on the website when the plants go on sale.

The supplier we use for garden sundries are main suppliers to professional growers, hence you can rest assured when buying sundries that you are receiving a professional product as used by the 'experts'

Similarly the wildlife products are supplied by a company dedicated to everything wild from insects and amphibians up to mammals.

Like many families we have had our fair share of small pets, none of which compare to Neil's beloved Border Collie, Duke and Jeremy's family of cats. Unfortunately at this stage it is not practical for us to offer small pet supplies, however, you will find some items for your Dog or Cat, some unusual items not always seen in the larger pet shops. In the future we would like to offer a much wider range of Dog and Cat products. Time is a deciding factor.

We hope you will enjoy visiting our website on a regular basis and please feel free to get in touch with us if you have any questions or simply want to share your experiences of the topics we cover.
